US Route 422 Skyline to Change with Addition of Dome to Eastwood Expo Center
On Tuesday, February 5, 2002 the press will receive a construction site tour and a first glimpse at renderings of the 30-foot tall dome.

NILES, OHIO (January 29, 2002)Ñ The Cafaro Company and Baragona Mid America Events are pleased to announce that construction began today on an 11,000 square foot expansion of the Eastwood Expo Center located on the Eastwood Mall Complex, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, Ohio. Unlike other recent growth on the complex such as DavidÕs Bridal, Chuck E. CheeseÕs and Steak NÕ Shake, the construction will not result in a four-sided, box-like structure. Instead, the new structure will be a 30-foot high, 132-foot wide inflatable dome.

Representatives of the media are invited to a special media briefing and hard-hat construction tour on the site where the dome is to be inflated. This media conference will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at 11:00 AM inside the existing Expo Center structure located on the Eastwood Mall Complex near Eastwood Mall Boulevard (State Route 46 entrance). During the conference, a rendering of the dome will be revealed, construction plans will be discussed and information regarding the inflation of the dome will be released. Refreshments will be served.

Preliminary foundation construction is expected to be completed by Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at which time the dome will undergo inflation. Once the addition is completed the Eastwood Expo Center will boast 60,000 square feet of exposition space, making it the largest exposition center between Cleveland, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that is exclusively used for special interest promotional shows.

The space created by the dome will allow the Eastwood Expo Center to host larger shows or conduct multiple shows at the same time. The Mahoning Valley Home and Garden Show, to be held February 22-24, 2002, will be the first show to use the display space created by the new dome. Other new expo shows have already secured dates in the 2002 Calendar including the 700 vendor, invitation only, Ohio Gun CollectorÕs Show (June 1&2) and the Great American Antique Show. Additional uses for the dome may include: concerts, sporting events (such as boxing, indoor soccer and indoor baseball), large weddings/receptions, wine tastings, and extreme sports shows.

The Eastwood Expo Center, established in 1993 for the exclusive purpose of hosting special interest promotional shows, is the largest of it kind between Cleveland, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Located in the Eastwood Mall Complex near the intersection of US Route 422 and State Route 46, the Eastwood Expo Center is part of one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in the state of Ohio. Adjacent to the 10,000-seat Cafaro Field, the Eastwood Expo Center enjoys 7,000 free parking spaces and is available for configurations ranging from 10,000-60,000 square feet.
